Student of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) who published his teacher's observations on the camera obscura. The latter, a forerunner of the modern camera, was an enclosed chamber in which Leonardo conducted experiments with light and darkness. In 1521, Cesariano also published De Architectura by the Roman architect Vitruvius (first century A.D.), the first edition of this highly significant treatise on Greco-Roman architecture and engineering to appear in a modern language.
