Hypertext is information organized so that it can be connected to other related information in a non-sequential way. The information is linked together by hyperlinks. By clicking on hyperlinks, users can choose various paths through the hypertext material. A hyperlink is a word, phrase, image, or region of an image, often highlighted, that can be selected from a web page. Each hyperlink represents another web page, a location in the current web page, an image or multimedia file, or some other resource on the World Wide Web. When a user clicks on a hyperlink, the browser sends a message to the web server that holds the resource to send it to the user's browser window.
