Bhang, a word from Hindi, is a name given to the hemp plant (also the source of the active agent in marijuana) and its products. In India, people use bhang to make a beverage called thandaii. It is also used to make desserts and ice cream. Bhang is often served at weddings or religious festivals and is freely available from sidewalk stands in the major cities. Bhang can also be smoked. Bhang users report that it causes a high similar to that of marijuana, although much milder.
