American Aviator

Amelia Mary Earhart was the most famous American woman aviator of our time. While she was known to be an excellent pilot and was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, she is best remembered for a flight she never completed. Amelia Earhart mysteriously disappeared during the last leg of her attempted flight around the world in 1937 and was never seen again.

Amelia was born in Atchison, Kansas. She had a chaotic childhood and spent portions of her youth living with her grandparents because her parents had financial problems. She attended six high schools because her father was transferred often in his job, as a claims attorney for the railroad.
