Euclid, known as the founder of geometry, established a school of mathematics at the great center of education in Alexandria, Egypt, in c.300 B.C.E. During his lifetime, Euclid proposed numerous mathematical postulates and theorems. The most famous of his writings is known as Elements, a thirteen- book series that is still the standard text for mathematical principles today.
