Located 5 degrees north and South (latitudes) south of the equator and produces convectional storms that are some of the heaviest on the planet. In the doldrums the weather is unpredictable and can go from a period of extreme stillness (no winds at all) to terrible storms. This is because it is in a convergence zone.
