Mr.Gorski is a heavy smoker who wakes up every morning and has a bothersome cough that brings up a large accumulation of mucus while it persists for several minutes. explain the reason for this?

Because Mr.Gorski is a heavy smoker he has paralyzed most of the cilia in his lungs. THe ones that are left are having a difficult time with the exchange of gasses and this is why the cough is persistent and mucus is coming up.
