Coupled reactions are sets of chemical reactions that occur together. One(or more) of the reactions taken alone is nonspontaneous and other spontaneous. The net reaction is spontaneous , with the increase in free energy of the nonspontaneous reaction(s) offset by the descrease in free energy of the spontaneous reaction(s).
