what limits the sizes of cells?

There are several factors that come into play when discussing the sizes of cells and how their size is regulated and limited. First, the dna of the cell can determine its size and capacities. Secondly, and more than likely more important, is the need of the cell, itself. If the surface are of the cell is unable to produce enough energy for the cell (food) then the cell has to stop growing, or divide.
