Phagocytosis is when a solid substance is completely surrounded and absorbed by a cell for example.
Pinocytosis is when a liquid material is absorbed/engulfed.
Rec. Med. endocytosis is when cells engulf/absorb molecules by a budding of plasma membrane vesicles containing proteins with receptor sites specific to the molecules being engulfed.
