How do I remove the window crank so I can remove the door panel from a 1973 chevrolet blazer. The repair manuals say either a screw or clip but there are no screws holding it nor can I see any clip.
You may have to push the door panel in (away from the crank, into the door) about a half inch to reveal a nylon washer protecting it from the crank, and the bent wire clip, a kind of circlip, that holds it to the splined shaft. If you don't lose the clip, just push the whole crank handle--with the nylon washer, back on when you get the door fixed. (You can use a pair of long-nosed pliers to pull the clip off the shaft then put it right back on the door handle, ready for reassembly. You have the choice of where- around the crank knob ends up when the window is all the way closed or all the way open, etc. depending on where it all is lined up when you put it back on.)
