Pharyngeal reflex

My son was quite ill for about 6 months with nausea and vomiting. He recently began feeling better but now he seems to cough a lot and gags with every cough. Is there a way to suppress the gagging?

My mom always gives me ginger ale. That helps.

If the gagging is caused by excess mucus, try a expectorant - talk to his doctor about it. Also, sometimes a shot of lemon juice will help.
