Elias Boudinot was linked to the Cherokees by birth. His parents were both Cherokee. His father's name was Oo-watie. Elias was college educated, married a white woman, and supported the removal and relocation of the tribe. His people considered him a traitor. He was killed as a direct result of signing the Treaty of New Echota.
