4(x - 3) + y = 21

4(x - 3) + 5 = 21

4(x) (4)( - 3) + 5 = 21

4x-12+ 5 = 21

4x-7 = 21

4x-7+7 = 21+7

4x=28

4x/4=28/4

x=7
