3x - 3y = - 9

3x - 3y+3y = - 9+3y

3x= - 9+3y

3x/3= - 9+3y/3

x=-3+y

5x - 3y = - 23

5(-3+y) - 3y = - 23

5(-3) (5)(+y) - 3y = - 23

-15+5y - 3y = - 23

-15+2y= - 23

-15+2y+15= - 23+15

2y=-8

2y/2=-8/2

y=-4

x=-3+y

x=-3+-4=-7
