5x + y = 48

5x -5x+ y = 48-5x

y = 48-5x

10x - 5y = 75

10x - 5( 48-5x ) = 75

10x - 5( 48) (-5)(-5x ) = 75

10x-240+25x=75

-240+35x=75

-240+35x+240=75+240

35x=315

35x/35=315/35

x=9

y = 48-5x

y = 48-5(9)

y = 48-45=3
