2x = - 2y - 10

2(4y + 23) = - 2y - 10

2(4y) (2)( + 23) = - 2y - 10

8y+46= - 2y - 10

8y+46+2y= - 2y - 10+2y

10y+46=-10

10y+46-46=-10 -46

10y=-56

10y/10=-56/10

y=-5.6

x = 4y + 23

x = 4(-5.6) + 23

x = -22.4 + 23=.6
