2x - 4y = - 22

2x - 4y+4y = - 22+4y

2x= - 22+4y

2x/2= - 22/2+4y/2

x=-11+2y

3x + 4y = 17

3(-11+2y) + 4y = 17

3(-11) (3)(+2y) + 4y = 17

-33+6y+ 4y = 17

-33+ 10y = 17

-33+ 10y+33 = 17+33

10y=50

10y/10=50/10

y=5

x=-11+2y

x=-11+2(5)

x=-11+10

x=-1
