x^2 - 2x - 8 = 0

(x )(x ) ( -4)( +2)=0

(x-4) (x+2) = 0

Check:

(x-4) (x+2) = 0

(x)(x) (x)(2) (-4)(x) (-4)(2)=0

x^2 +2x -4x -8=0

x^2 - 2x - 8 = 0
