x^2 + 4x - 5 = 0

(x )(x ) ( -1)( +5)=0

(x-1) (x+5) = 0

Check:

(x-1) (x+5) = 0

(x)(x) (x)(5) (-1)(x) (-1)(5)

x^2 +5x -1x -5

x^2 +4x -5=0
