Why would Jefferson oppose the national Bank?

Jefferson opposed the national bank because he believed it to be unconstitutional. He was of the opinion that a centralization of financial power would weaken the United States' monetary system. He also argued that although a national bank would assist Northern businesses.... it would hurt the South.
