One-party systems are a type of state in which one political party has the right to form the government, typically based on the existing constitution. Example, the governments of the Soviet Union, China, Bulgaria, Rumania.

The two-party system is a party system in which two major political parties dominate. At any point in time, one of the two parties usually controls a majority in the legislature and is referred to as the majority. Example, the United States, Bahamas, Jamaica, Malta, and Zimbabwe.
