one interpretation of the poem deals with gender aestetic issues. through the story, goblin men are depicted as animals with cat like face, rat like tails and so on. christina Rossetti is writing that Barbaric Men (goblin men) are call out with their fruits (money, sexual needs) to charm women and use them. once they are through with them, use them up, they leave and never return. similar to Laura, once they recieve the lock of her golden hair, she is thrown away from priorites that the men have. they use their call to capture "virgins" to make them fall into the "sin" that they provide.
