The story of War Horse, by Michael Morpurgo, is written from a horse's point of view. The author likely did this because he wanted a different perspective on war to be offered to the reader. This could only be accomplished from a point of view that the reader would not be familiar with. Some of the grim realities of war, of little realized truths were only accessible from the horse's viewpoint .
