William Hart is Ray's father, a man for whom he harbors fear and resentment. Hart is the rich CEO of a Boston bank, and he is a member of The Mayflower Club. He is driven by success and has little patience and understanding for anything else. Although Hart is an alcoholic, he driven to succeed, and he tries to impart that same ambition to his sons. Ray classifis his father as cold and uncaring, whereas, Mr. Hart views himself as a realist.
