Who is Walter Blumenthal from Four Perfect Pebbles: A Holocaust Story and what is their importance?

Walter Blumenthal was Marion's father. He was a shopkeeper, who served in the German military. Forsaken by his country, he lost all hope while imprisoned in Bergen-Belsen. He died of typhus soon after he and his family were released.
