Genovese is the capo (boss) of one of the five New York City Families of the Cosa Nostra. Of all the bosses, he is the most feared. Like most other bosses, Genovese presents himself to the world as a legitimate business. He is described as smart, ambitious, and of having designs to become the national "Mr. Big," or the Boss of Bosses, in charge of the entire organization.
