Trudi Montag is the town librarian, as well as the town gossip. Trudi is a dwarf, something the townspeople believe was caused by her mother dropping her on her head. After the accident, Trudi's mother went insane and died in an asylum. Trudi, however, remains unbothered by her stature, except that it has left her unable to find a husband and have a family.
