Who is Thomasina Ballard Travers from --and Ladies of the Club and what is their importance?

Thomasina Ballard Travers is Eliza's sister, and the daughter of Mary Grimes Ballard. She is described as a shy, young woman, who suffers from acute hay fever and asthma. After her poem, "To a Bride," is published in the local newspaper, Samuel Travers approaches her asks for permission to set it to music. The couple later marries.
