Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) was the author of the Declaration of Independence, the second vice-president of the United States, under Adams, and the third president of the United States. He was one of the most influential of the Founding Fathers and an advocate of republicanism. The letters between Jefferson, John Adams, and Adams' wife, Abigail, are the subject of this novel.
