The Prince is said to be a connoisseur of pleasures, as well as terrible and conniving man. When he learns of a conspiracy to take his life, he forced the conspirator to appear in a play..... something that leads us to believe he will show his would be assassin mercy. Over the course of the story, we learn that the Prince is incapable of mercy, as he has Fancioulle killed by a small boy during the midst of his greatest performance.
