Her questions lead Clare to examine and define herself in ways she's never before considered. As Claire come to understand and accept herself, she is also able to acknowledge herself as both black and a woman. She also comes to see that she is capable of self-responsibility, self-determination, and self-respect..... things that should be utililzed in the support/service of others like her.
