For Hill, the ideal hunting companion is a person with the best equipment who is obsessed with gadgets and who insists on leading the expedition by rowing the boat. That way, Hill not only gets a chance to play with new equipment, he has a friend who wants to do all the hard stuff involved in hunting, such that Hill can be an idle daydreamer and appreciate nature.
