The Berliner Ensemble consisted of a group of like-minded actors and theatre practitioners that was formed by Brecht after World War II. The company both practiced and advocated socialism in the way it was run, as well as in the theatre it produced and presented. The Ensemble was renowned throughout Europe and the West for its sharp, determined commitment.
