Who is "The America Play" - Abraham Lincoln, the Foundling Father, from The America Play, and Other Works and what is their importance?

President Abraham Lincoln is credited with having both the moral and political courage to abolish slavery. In the play, he is regarded as an ambivalent character, who is idolized and viewed as a hero, but not necessarily as great a friend to African Americans as people tend to believe.
