Thaisa appears in Shakespeare's, Pericles, Prince of Tyre. She is Pericles wife. Thaisa dies during childbirth on board Pericles' ship. He then places her body in a large chest laden with jewels, sweet-smelling spices, and a note. When the chest washes up on shore, it is discovered by a gentleman from Ephesus, who opens it and finds Thaisa alive inside. Thaisa goes onto become a priestess of Diana at the Temple. She and Pericles later meet at the temple and are reunited.
