Talamir was the Herald, who served as Queen's Own for Selenay before Talia. He was murdered, and he only appears in the story as the other characters investigate his death. Although Talamir loved Selenay and tried to serve her well, he never bridged their age difference to achieve the same level of comfort the Queen has with Talia.
