Born in 1893, Solomon Slepak grew up in poverty. His father died when he was eight, and he left home when he was thirteen-years-old because he didn't want to become a rabbi. Solomon made his way to America, where he taught himself English by reading the newspapers. He found the political structure of Russia to be of great interest and returned to his homeland, where he became a dedicated Bolshevik killer. Solomon remained dedicated to the communist causes even after the party turned on their own people.
