Sloan is a policeman and one of Lucas' coworkers. Sloan apparently doesn't have a first name because even his wife claims not to know it. His job involves doing a lot of background work, during which he studies the criminal histories of suspects. After Cassie's murder, Sloan takes Lucas home and stays with him all night to protect him from his own depression and the possibility of suicide. Later, when Michael Bekker is arrested, Sloan is with Lucas and stops him from beating Bekker.
