Who is Sheriff Bannerman from Cujo and what is their importance? Cujo English & Literature Sheriff Bannerman | Cujo

Sheriff Bannerman is the sheriff of Castle County, based in Castle Rock. When Vic cannot get Donna to answer the phone, he calls Bannerman's office to run a check on the house; therefore, Bannerman is one of the first officers on the scene. When Steve Kemp is arrested, Bannerman is sent to check out Camber's office because the investigator with the DA's office dislikes Bannerman and thinks Camber's is a dead end. When Bannerman arrives, however, he is almost immediately attacked by Cujo. Cujo disembowels Bannerman before Donna can climb out of the car and distract the dog. Bannerman tries to make it to his car to call for help, but he is weakened by his injuries and is overwhelmed by Cujo.
