Senor R. DeGamez is the owner of the Parrot Bookstore. He is also an undercover CIA operative. DeGamez immediately recognizes Mrs. Pollifax the first time she comes into the store. He is later murdered by the organization that was trying to find the microfilm he'd been instructed to send by Mrs. Pollifax. In the novel's conclusion, we learn that DeGamez realized he was in danger and gave Mrs. Pollifax the film hidden in a deck of cards the first time she stopped at the store.
