Savonarola was a monk who relocated in Florence shortly before Lorenzo de Medici's death. After Medici's death, his heir quickly found himself an unpopular ruler, and Savonarola began preaching Armageddon from the pulpit..... accusing the Medici family's immoral rule for the downfall of Florence. Savonarola later became the leader of Florence, after which, he attempted to impose laws against the immoral. When the church became tired of Savonarola's outrageous ways, the pope had him excommunicated. Shortly after, the people of Florence turned on Savonarola and he was hung.
