Who is Sarun from The Clay Marble: And Related Readings and what is their importance?

Sarun is Dara's brother. He is older than Dara and described as loving, strong, and affectionate. Over the course of the novel, Sarun changes drastically due to the escalating war and need to push back invaders. As such, he stands as an example of one of the novel's main themes.... the dangers and corruptible powers of war. In the end, however, Dara convinces him to return to his home and family.
