Sandra Steenwijk is Anton's daughter. Sandra is a precocious child, who brings her father a great deal of joy, as well as a great deal of guilt after he and her mother divorce. When Sandra is sixteen, she insists that her father take her to Haarlem to see where her grandparents died. He complies with her wishes, and they visit the memorial together. She later becomes pregnant and moves in with a man Anton disapproves of. They remain close, however, and Sandra remains a source of joy and peace for Anton.
