Saddam Hussein was the Iraqi dictator. Saddam replied to a letter from King Hussein with an offer to release women, children and sick hostages if someone notable would be flown in to publicly ask. As a result, Richard put together a volunteer flight crew to accompany him to Baghdad. The mission was a success, and Ted Heath brought a large crowd to leave with him on the return flight while Iraqi soldiers opened Virgin gift packs.
