Ruby Gravano is a prostitute and the mother of a nine-year-old autistic son named Nick. Ruby is quite thin and has long black hair. Her eyelashes and fingernails are false. Ruby wears "foundation on her thighs and forearms" (pg. 68.) Ruby's son is "a strange-looking child" with black hair and a "narrow face" which closely resembles his mother. Robicheaux notices that Nick's eyes are "unnaturally far apart, as though they had been pasted on the skin" (pg. 172.)
