Ronald Duncan was the sociopathic killer, who caused controversy across LA County because the law prevented him from being tried as an adult. Duncan never showed any kind of remorse and basically hung himself during the court proceedings. Peggy Beckstrand worked hard to convict him, and she was ultimately successful, though not without cost. In Hume's view, the system failed to get justice for Duncan's victims.
