Roarke is the husband of Eve Dallas and the head of Roarke Industries, which owns the Palace Hotel. He was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. His mother had been poor and he had picked pockets and stolen to help them survive. He built his empire through crime but is now legitimate and out of crime. Roarke has all of the latest technology and uses it to help Eve identify and arrest Yost. From his earlier days in crime, he is familiar with many of the underworld figures. Mick Connelly, his friend from the past, arrives several hours after the first murder and is welcomed into his home. When they begin to figure that the auctions items were the object of a heist, Roarke realizes his friend was involved. He allows Mick to leave, which infuriates his cop wife.
