Who is Ravens from A Year in the Maine Woods and what is their importance?

Heinrich spends a lot of time observing ravens while living at the cabin. He feeds them road kill, as well as dead cows and calves he's able to get from local farmers. Heinrich find the ravens to be very playful and describes them as behaving like young children.
