Peter is an out-of-work actor in the story, Previous Condition. Having no money, Peter depends on his friends to provide him with a place to live. Peter surrounds himself with white people, and as a black man, enjoys being a part of their world. He believes he fits in this world, but later comes to realize he does not. After spending time in a black bar...... Peter realizes he doesn't belong there either, but he also realizes that it is where he wants to belong.
